The National Junior Pickleball Organization (JPO) started a new initiative in 2021--the Jr. PPA Tour. The JPO began in 2020, founded by #TeamVulcan Pro Tyler Loong and Alissa Owen, in partnership with Laurie Lambert and the Utah Tennis Association. As an organization, the JPO aims to provide opportunities for juniors to compete against other juniors, instead of being forced to play in adult divisions.
The JPO partnered with the Pro Pickleball Association (PPA) to create a pathway for juniors to play at the highest level on a nationwide scale. These tournament results can be tracked, leading to a system that creates growth and competition for junior players in pickleball. Junior players compete in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles at these PPA tournaments under the Jr. PPA wing of management.
In addition to the competition events, the Jr. PPA offers the Family Social at each tournament stop that allows juniors to partner with a related adult to compete in a fun, competitive environment. This gives families more time to enjoy the recreational sport of pickleball together.
Vulcan Pickleball is proud to be the title sponsor of the Jr. PPA moving forward, including the Family Social events. Both Vulcan and the JPO/Jr. PPA believe that growth in youth pickleball is exciting for the entire sport, and the organizations are ready to help promote junior pickleball on a national level.
